Delta-8 THC Education

What is Delta 8?

Delta-8 THC is a psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant. Though Delta-8 is similar in many aspects to Delta-9 THC, which is what is commonly referred to as cannabis, it is milder and less psychoactive. While Delta-8 can still provide euphoric effects, it doesn’t cause the negative side effects that cannabis can create for a user.

Reduced Anxiety

Delta-8 has the capability to cause less anxiety within a user due to its milder intoxicating effects. Delta-8 binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors within our body but has a weaker bond with the CB1 receptors, which are located primarily in the brain. Having a weaker bond with the CB1 receptors can reduce the potential anxiety and paranoia that result from its close cousin Delta-9 THC.

Legalities of Delta-8

The Farm Bill of 2018 defines that “any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers” may contain no more than 0.3 percent concentration of THC. Lab testing is very important to all hemp-derived products to make sure that they do not contain a higher concentration than the 0.3% to maintain its federally legal status.
